Duration of Move: All time estimates provided online or by phone are general guidelines based on previous experience. Every move is different, and actual duration may vary depending on stairs, elevator wait times, long carries, building access, traffic conditions, and other on-site factors. Santa Monica Movers cannot guarantee exact completion times.
Service Requirements: Local moves have a minimum booking time. Most moves require a three-hour minimum, while Saturday mornings and moves in outlying areas may require a four-hour minimum due to peak demand and travel conditions.
Driving Time Charges: In accordance with state regulations, Santa Monica Movers is required to charge double the driving time between the pick-up and drop-off locations. For full details, refer to Item 36 of the Maximum Rate Tariff as published by the California Public Utilities Commission.
Acceptable Payments: We accept cash and credit/debit cards. Checks are not accepted. Charges continue on an hourly basis until final payment is completed. A customer or authorized representative must be present for the duration of the move and for the final walk-through. For card payments, the cardholder must be onsite with a valid government-issued ID.
Appliance Handling: Our team can assist with basic disconnecting and reconnecting of common household appliances. However, we do not handle plumbing or gas lines and are not responsible for internal malfunctions when no external damage is visible. Customers assume responsibility for proper reconnection.
Packing Options: If you require packing assistance, our movers can provide it upon request. Santa Monica Movers supplies complimentary plastic wrap and tape. Boxes, packing paper, and bubble wrap are available for purchase.
Parking Management: Customers are responsible for securing adequate parking at both locations. Any parking citations, towing fees, or fines resulting from insufficient parking arrangements will be billed to the customer.
Property Protection: Moving oversized or heavy items through narrow hallways, staircases, or tight spaces may pose risks to floors, walls, or the item itself. If you instruct us to proceed under these conditions, Santa Monica Movers is not liable for resulting damage.
Plant Transportation: We can move plants, but due to their fragile nature, we cannot guarantee a perfect outcome. Larger plants in heavy pots may incur an additional handling fee.
Additional Fees: Certain items and services may involve extra charges, including specialty packing materials (excluding wrap and tape), piano handling, safe moves, storage, tolls, long carries, or unique access challenges.
Wall Fixtures: Our movers can remove mounted TVs, artwork, and mirrors. However, reinstallation at the new location is not provided. We recommend hiring a qualified handyman or technician for reinstalling wall-mounted items.
Flat Screen TVs: When possible, our crew will test your TV before and after the move to confirm that it remains in working condition. Please ensure the TV is accessible for these checks.
